We are very proud of the many years of involvement we have had in the renewable energy sector, where our coatings have been used in multiple types of renewable technologies, including wind, wave, geothermal, solar and hydroelectric.
For over 15 years Elastothane polyurethane coatings have been the preferred solution in protecting off-shore and inland wind turbines, sub sea cables and service vessels that build and maintain vast arrays of turbines. Used to protect against corrosion and abrasion, our coatings are subjected to an almost constant sand blasting and wet dry cycles where normal coatings fail within days.
Harnessing the vast power of the oceans has demanded the most of our coatings, with permanent immersion in salt water, corrosion, impact and abrasion constantly attacking installations. Applied to sub sea clamshell tidal generators, and wave harvesting power stations, several our polyureas have already proven their capabilities during many years of constant service.
Relying on the incredible pressure caused by gravity fed water, hydroelectric power generation requires extreme protection for pipelines and concrete construction alike. When traditional coatings proved no match for the strength and resilience offered by polyurea, multiple installations across the UK and Europe helped Elastothane gain an enviable reputation for protecting hydroelectric assets.
Working closely with OEM's in the solar energy sector, Elastothane has helped develop integrated roofing panel systems that offer improved strength and load bearing for old or weaker roofing. This new approach has been heralded as a major step forward in installing panels on buildings that previously could not be considered due to the extra weight. The panels system also improves the insulation values of the roof, delivering savings to the occupier too.
We are often asked if we can apply our coatings for customers, however we feel that this would be directly in competition with our customers, and therefore don't offer that service. We have many independent applicators that are highly experienced and can offer in-house or on-site spraying of polyurea.
